Help With "Our Kind of Traitor"
I'm using version 1.16.4 of makemkv. I'm trying to read the Blu-Ray disc "Our Kind of Traitor". Makemkv shows hundreds of versions. If I search this forum, somebody said this is the right one: Source file name: 00570.mpls. How can I tell makemkv to read that version? Makemkv lists hundreds...

Re: Error 'Posix error - Permission denied' occurred while creating
I'm not sure why I used a snap originally. I followed your advice and installed makemkv directly and it works now. It allows me to save files to the externally mounted hard drive. Thank you very much for your help!

Re: Warning: MacTheRipper
Thanks for uploading the file. My disc set is also 12+1, and the I have the same ID (DVDL-6258300A1 1) on the rear of the disc, and the sample looks the same as mine. My file size for the first episode is only 498 MB, compared to your which is 562 MB. Do you have any ideas why the file size would be...

Re: Warning: MacTheRipper
My set is the Shout version: UPC 82666315304 Okay, this appears to be the bar code on the packaging. I checked my box set and I have the exact same barcode. So, I think that should mean I have the exact same DVDs that you have, right? Why do you think I would receive the MacTheRipper warning but yo...

Re: How to keep subtitles in ripping?
I have this same issue: it seems that only about one out of ten BluRay and DVD rips come with subtitles. However, my preferred language was set to "None". Would that have prevented the subtitles from being included with the mkv file?

What does that mean? How can I tell what version mine is?My set is the Shout version: UPC 82666315304
Also, when you ripped an episode that was 561M, which episode did you rip? Would it be possible to share a few minutes of video so I could compare quality?

Re: Error 'Posix error - Permission denied' occurred while creating
I am running it as my user. In fact, I simply start it from the command-line.
makemkv is installed as a snap. I must admit I don't know what that is. It's installed in something like: /snap/makemkv/351 I don't know how that works so, naturally, I'm suspicious of it.

Re: Warning: MacTheRipper
Have you seen that complaint before about MacTheRipper? Why would that be on an official non-bootleg disk? Here's my dilemma. I'm willing to purchase the DVD set again on Amazon if I knew the videos would be of higher quality. But, that would not make sense if I actually have the official version an...

Warning: MacTheRipper
I recently purchased a DVD set on eBay for a TV series: WKRP in Cincinnati. When I try to read the discs with makemkv, this warning is displayed: It appears that you are opening the disc processed by DvdFab/MacTheRipper which is known to produce damaged VOB files. Errors may follow - please use the ...

Re: Error 'Posix error - Permission denied' occurred while creating
Hi, thanks for your help. I was able to create the testfile with the touch command. The results of the 'ls -ld' are: > ls -ld /media/USERNAME/drivelabel/NetFlix/MovieName drwxr-xr-x 2 USERNAME USERNAME 4096 Jul 1 14:00 /media/USERNAME/drivelabel/NetFlix/MovieName I also tried the 'chown' command you...

Re: Error 'Posix error - Permission denied' occurred while creating
Okay. You're right. The path name in my post was incorrect. I did not want to use my real user name. When I run makemkv, I use the correct path name. It's something like: /media/username/drivelabel/videos/MovieName The point is that I have full write permissions in that directory. I can create files...

Error 'Posix error - Permission denied' occurred while creating
When I mount an external USB Hard Drive and then set makemkv's output folder as a directory on that hard drive, I get an error when I try to save DVDs and BluRays: Error 'Posix error - Permission denied' occurred while creating /media/username/MovieName I never receive this error when I try to save ...

Fault Tolerant BluRay Conversion
I've been using makemkv for a month and I'm happy with it. However, between 10 and 20 percent of the time, makemkv fails to read the disc because of a read error, and then deletes what was read so far. If I instead play the disc in my standalone BluRay player, it plays fine. I don't want to discuss ...
