Re: SDF update November 2025

>Did you try cleaning the disc? No. I don't have anything to clean with. It's not the problem, never has been. I don't smoke or have cats. How can you rule it out as the problem if you haven't tried to clean the disc? If you clean the disc, and it still doesn't work, THEN you can rule it out as a p...

Re: Blu-ray ISOs: what ISO standard?

I’ve played 100s of backed up ISOs withe MakeMkv folder in it with VLC and never had an issue. Why would it? That folder isn’t part of the DVD/Blu-Ray spec so why would VLC even look at it? I would be interested to read the thread where you saw this for more information. Sorry I saw that you posted...

Re: Recommendations for a new internal UHD drive

You can't really go by the label these days but you might be lucky. A lot of these drives are the older models with new labels on them. Thanks for the tip. The drive hasn't shipped yet, so I asked the seller to confirm its drive platform MT1959. Don't know if he will know what I am talking about. I...

Re: Recommendations for a new internal UHD drive

There's been an absolute ton of ASUS BW-16D1HT drives on ebay of late that are the older MT1939 drive platform and are incompatible with flashoing for UHD readability. The pictures on the listing show the drive was manufactured in 2022, which is newer than the drive that died on me (2019). Hopefull...

Re: Recommendations for a new internal UHD drive

ASUS don't make drives. The BW-16D1HT is a rebadged LG. Since prices at the moment aren't that much different, you'd be better off getting the Pioneer coop recommended and using it as your workhorse. I got the drive for under $100. The drive was marked as new. The seller had a good rating on eBay. ...

Re: Recommendations for a new internal UHD drive

I already have a Pioneer, including the flash for it that I bought from BillyCar11. I am looking for something a bit cheaper as my main workhorse drive (e.g. ASUS or LG). Personally, I have had very good experiences with my Asus drives and they pretty much have been able to rip anything that I thro...

Re: Standard Blu-ray copy

I have about 5 standard blu-ray discs I own and bought a long time ago. They are about our solar system and galaxy. I want to show my granddaughters without paying $100-$300 to buy a blu-ray player or capable blu-ray drive. Is there anyone near Cleveland that could help me out buy making an MKV fil...

Re: Blu-ray ISOs: what ISO standard?

Using ImgBurn takes all of the guess work out of it and is very easy to use. If using Linux, you can run ImgBurn via Wine or a Docker container. FYI ISO 9660 is an optical media format so it's not related to anything with what MakeMKV does (except when backing up a DVD since MakeMKV backs up DVDs di...

Verbatim 43888. it has a LG BU40N inside.
That unfortunately is an external slim drive. I need an internal drive.

Recommendations for a new internal UHD drive

I have an internal Asus BW-16D1HT drive that seems to have recently died after ripping hundreds of discs with it. I went to go buy a new one, but it looks like this ASUS model is discontinued and the prices are really high on it (upper $100s into the $200s - I originally bought it for under $120). A...

Asus BW-16D1HT Dead?

I have an Asus BW-16D1HT internal drive that worked great for a few years which I used to rip hundreds of discs, including UHD, Blu-Ray, and DVD. However, the other day it just stopped working. MakeMKV detects the drive but when I put it in a disc, it spins for a while and then stops and reports no ...

Re: How to Rip Sing-A-Long Edition

Thanks for the info. Yeah so I just ripped the whole disc and after viewing all files, the sing along tracks are all divided into 1 file per song. Which leaves me confused When you say 1 file per song, do you mean they are individual MKV files that were created after you ripped the disc? Also what ...
