Thanks! To my surprise, restarting did actually fix the problem. Now I feel like a bit of an idiot.
Anyway, what's the reasoning behind it being unable to find and access the drive when it wasn't plugged in at boot? Is it a problem that people have never really encountered/reported? Or a marginal ...
