Oddly enough, the second disc ripped fine but the first disc did not. Dump file was just over 5MB so here's a dropbox link

This process worked for disc two but not disc one. I keep getting the "The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted" message. Even after backing up the disc to the drive.

Have you tried downloading the latest KEYDB.cfg file, copying it into MakeMKV's data directory (i.e. where MakeMKV also writes its TGZ dump files) and restarting MakeMKV?
I haven't. Didn't realize that was a thing -- I've not been active on the forum in a while ...

I'm having similar issues lately. MakeMKV will ask for permissions a couple times during a single disc rip. I've checked all the permissions -- seems to check out fine there.

I figured but was still hopeful.
Is the process still relatively easy to rip to MKV (while retaining DV)? I wouldn't mind getting some remuxed copies on my server.

I've been ripping my large 4K collection for years now and have always wanted to get DV on my Plex server. From my searches online, I've found a ton of mixed information on process which most seemed pretty complicated.
Was this just a test for you -- or are you doing more rips/encodes ...

I have an Asus BW-16D1HT on factory-fitted 3.00 firmware, i.e. it is already UHD and LibreDrive friendly. It sounds like there is now a way forward for getting latest firmware without losing these key features. However, I'm a bit nervous about doing that as I don't have any issues with the drive ...
