Re: File save error
Well.... an "ethernet drive" is network attached storage, so... you already own a few NAS.... ;) And they're probably running Linux to provide the interface. The main difference is that the Netgear router is running both NAS and media sharing software. And while the router has a USB3 port...

Re: File save error
One thing you could try is to simply disconnect the external drive from the router and attach it to your computer and run checks on it. The success of that depends on what format you used on the drive when it was initialized. I use NTFS for everything, because it lets all of my systems (Linux and W...

Re: File save error
Hi, As soon as I saw the word Readyshare, I knew you were going to have issues. Netgear does not have the best File Sharing software in the world - it's actually crap. I'm in an ongoing 6-month support case with them for this very reason, starting out with an R7000, exchanging the R7000, and moving...

File save error
Hello, Using MakeMKV 1.9.0 on Win7. My file saves of any size work fine to local internal drive, local USB3 drive or network ethernet drive but even 700MB ones fail consistently to a USB3 drive on router's USB3 port, throwing Error 'OS error - The transport connection is now disconnected' occurred w...

Re: Auto eject disk
That would be nice but only as an option, and assuming all titles were selected to save and all saves successful. (I often save twice to split titles between 2 network shares) A beep option at end of scan and save would also be nice (I rip several titles every day from DVD-RWs made on 3 Funai record...

I'll withdraw the question - I set location to 'none' and added my locations to 'favorites' so it's easy to select and change as needed during a session...

Multiple desktop shortcuts with different target locations?
Hi All,
I imagine this question has been answered but I'm not sure what to search for. I've been saving to one drive and then moving to others as needed, or changing target location manually - can I just run MakeMKV with a different shortcut for each drive?
Thanks,
CC

Re: Feature request - Length attribute
Yikes - my Windows ignorance apparently knows no bounds - now I stumbled across the Details pane for useful info on the "known" file types. Even for unknown types like MKV it's helpful to be able to select multiple files to see total size... (Sorry to have gone so far afield - I'll shut up...

Re: Feature request - Length attribute
Thanks - looks like the basic version is all I would need - what's a reliable source - CNET?

Re: Feature request - Length attribute
The length attribute is not really used by Windows Explorer in the way you think. Take an MP4 file, and rename it to have an .MPG file extension. Watch Explorer be unable to tell you how long the file is, because it can't read an MPG file. Same file, nothing changed except the extension. MP4, it ca...

Re: Feature request - Length attribute
Hi Mike, mike admin wrote:Sorry, I don't understand the request. Please explain.cc_in_oh wrote:Length is displayed in the file save selection list - would it be possible to populate the Windows file LENGTH attribute in the saved files?
MakeMKV scans a DVD and lists the titles. You check the ones you want to save. Each title has a length - h:m:s. I'm just asking if that length can be stored in the length attribute of the saved file so it can be displayed in Windows Explorer view details? As it is, I have to make it part of the file name to get that visibility.
FWIW mp4 files recorded with PlayOn/PlayLater populate Length, so I'm hoping it wouldn't be much trouble for MakeKKV to do it...

Feature request - Length attribute
Hello,
Length is displayed in the file save selection list - would it be possible to populate the Windows file LENGTH attribute in the saved files?
(New to forum - is there a better place to propose enhancements?)
Thanks,
CC
