Issue with MakeMKV 1.16.5 on M1 Macs running macOS Monterey (needs code signing)
I have been using MakeMKV on macOS for several years (I have a paid licence). Until recently this was always on an Intel Mac but now I also have an M1 based Mac. There is a disturbing issue on the M1 based Mac under macOS Monterey when using MakeMKV 1.16.5. When I start MakeMKV it provokes a macOS p...

Does MakeMKV run on M1 based Macs?
I am a (registered) user of MakeMKV on macOS (Intel x64) for several years now. Very soon I must switch to a new M1 based Mac. I am concerned that MakeMKV may not work on that! I do see some posts here about running MakeMKV on M1 based Macs. Is this the Intel version running via Rosetta? Or is it a ...

Re: VLC BLu-Ray playback no longer seems to work?
Interestingly this works (with the libraries in /usr/local/lib) under macOS Catalina Beta 3. However it complains that Java is missing so there is no menu support. I'm wondering if it is a Java issue on my other system causing VLC to crash. I wonder what version of Java VLC is expecting.

Re: Catalina and Gatekeeper
Using Catalina Developer Beta 3 and MakeMKV 1.14.4 things seem to work just fine... I can RIP both DVDs and Blu-Rays.

Re: VLC BLu-Ray playback no longer seems to work?
An update on this; I placed the symlinks in /usr/local/lib instead of ~/lib and now VLC seems to find the library and starts trying to open the disc but then VLC disappears (seems likely it crashed) but there is no crash report or anything else to indicate what the problem is. Any chance of getting ...

VLC BLu-Ray playback no longer seems to work?
VLC direct Blu-Ray playback, as described here (https://2mkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=7010&sid=d66d8242d22933e2c58a5223f3d8b71a), no longer seems to work; is this expected? I have macOS 10.14.5, VLC 3.0.7.1 and MakeMKV 1.14.4. I have created the symlinks in ~/lib as described in the art...

Re: Full disk backup fails but no helpful error. Debug log a
Hi yorgo, thanks for the pointer to AnyDVD! With regard to my PVR, it has a limited ability to create DVD and Blu-ray dies with full structure but I never use that feature because the look and feel of those disk (menus etc.) is pretty poor and they all involve major processing of the video which tak...

Re: Full disk backup fails but no helpful error. Debug log a
The copy mode we are using doesn't have the option to close the disc. Other modes may but they also down-convert the video and take hours to copy just one item. The file-system is in fact fine - MacOS can read the disk perfectly with no issues so that is something of a red herring. Windows/AnyDVD al...

Re: Full disk backup fails but no helpful error. Debug log a
I created a new disk, formatting it first in the PVR, and copying just one item to the disk. MakeMKV still shows the 'file system is not clean' errors but the backup completes without error. Sadly, even though I had ticked 'Decrypt video files' the .m2ts file in the backup is still encrypted... I'd ...

Re: Full disk backup fails but no helpful error. Debug log a
Yes, we simply used the 'copy to disk' function in our PVR. The files were FreeView HD broadcasts which were recorded. These are encrypted and it is normal for the .m2ts files on the copied disk to also be encrypted. In the past we were able to extract/decrypt these files using a Windows machine wit...

Full disk backup fails but no helpful error. Debug log avail
I have a Blu-ray disk with 2 encrypted .m2ts files (created by my Panasonic Blu-ray PVR) which I am trying to decrypt via MakeMKVs 'full disk backup' feature (MakeMKV 1.10.7 on macOS 10.13 High Sierra. All starts off okay but then after just a short time I get the error 'Backup failed'. Nothing else...

Re: MakeMKV is not compatible with Mac OS X beta 10.10 Yosem
Thanks for this information; this is quite troubling. I rely heavily on MakeMKV but I also want to be able to upgrade to Yosemite pretty much at the time it is released. Of all the third party apps and extensions etc. that I use, currently (Yosemite DP 5) the only one that is not already working is ...

Re: Mac OS X - Yosemite Compatibility
I am also interested in this topic. I can state that MakeMKV does not even start (Application failed to initialise) under the current build of Yosemite (Developer Preview update 3) and that is fine. But I do rely heavily on makeMKV and at the same time I currently plan to update to Yosemite promptly...

Re: Version 1.8.1
I see the exact same issues. OS X 10.8.3. I am using an external USB2 DVD drive (Slimtype eTAU108 3 AL03) and an external USB2 Blu-Ray drive (BD-RE TSSTcorp BDDVDW SE-506AB TS01). Are there any diagnostics I can capture to help you diagnose this so we can get a fix?
