Re: application failed to initialize

OK, for no known reason, it's working again. While the computer has been rebooted a couple of times, there were no software updates or changes of any kind. It's ripping a 4K Star Wars movie now, which will take another 1:18 to finish, so won't test the rip tonight.

Re: application failed to initialize

Agreed, I should be more descriptive. When attempting to start the program, a MakeMKV BETA popup message appears the the message in the subject line. Capture.GIF When you click OK the popup closes, and MakeMKV does not run. There are no entries I can find in the Windows Event Viewer that relates to ...

Re: application failed to initialize

Update: removal, reboot and reinstall did not resolve the issue. Program will not run at all.

application failed to initialize

I realize this has been discussed previously, but the past resolutions haven't helped. Windows 10 version 1909. MakeMKV has worked fine on this computer basically forever. Had version 1.15.1 installed and successfully used within the last couple of weeks. Tried to start the program today, and encoun...

Re: WH14NS40 SVC - NS50 FIRMWARE 1.03

I have the WH14NS40, and I believe the firmware is 1.02. I haven't flashed it, nor do I intend to. So far I've been able to rip four UHD discs without error. Haven't bought any more yet, but I'll get around to it when there are more titles I'm willing to buy... again. Success: Close Encounters...

Re: UHD support

I can't connect to the doom9 forum. Have they gone offline? Is that the only place the key file can be acquired? I haven't grabbed the most current one, but so far I've been successful ripping four UHDs. Don't have any immediate plans to buy more, but who knows what title might appear I want? EDIT: ...

Re: Optical Drive RPC error

Is it with a specific disk (or disks), or all DVDs? I get this message from time to time with MakeMKV on a drive that has not had a region set. It has been generally harmless, as the rip takes place anyway, but it DOES pop up. Most other times, it doesn't appear. No, it only appears occasionally. T...

Optical Drive RPC error

I know this has been covered before, but I seem to have a slightly different issue. Either that, or I'm getting dense in my old age! My drive gives me this error: Drive BD-ROM ATAPI iHOS104 WL0G has RPC protection that can not be bypassed. Change drive region or update drive firmware. [/b] It...

Change video codec during rip?

I've searched, but I can't quite get if the answer exists somewhere here. MakeMKV is a fantastic disc ripper. I've ripped over 2000 files (movies and TV episodes) with rarely a problem. Now I have one. I just purchased a Samsung HU8550 TV. That's the 4K model. I use Serviio as my primary DLNA server...

Re: Hardware Blu Ray / MKV player suggestions (plays huge mk

I use two types of players (3 counting the DLNA built into my TV), the Roku 2 XS and Sony BDP-S3100. The Roku requires transcoding, because it can't handle a video bitstream much higher than 12Mbps, and most Blu-Ray rips run 25Mbps or higher. It will, however, play a DVD ripped into MKV without tran...

Re: Can the file naming suffix be supressed?

Mike, worked great. Never noticed that naming option before. Thanks!

With your latest release, I'm going to try my Star Trek TOS Blu-rays again. Maybe they will rip properly now.

Re: Can the file naming suffix be supressed?

@@Mike: same thing. I can (and do) set the name in MakeMKV before the rip, but it adds the track number on the end. There are two options for the file: Name - that sets the title name in metadata and constructs the default file name, and "File Name" - that sets the actual file name. Selec...

Re: Can the file naming suffix be supressed?

@Chetwood: Yes, FileBot can usually ignore the t0x, but with some TV episodes I have had to rename the file before FileBot will get an accurate match. @Mike: same thing. I can (and do) set the name in MakeMKV before the rip, but it adds the track number on the end. With many videos Filebot will igno...

Can the file naming suffix be supressed?

When MakeMKV rips the disc, it always adds a _t0x to each file name. Is there any way to suppress this? If I am ripping a TV series I always name each episode before starting. If it is a movie, I only rip the main title. The t0x annoys FileBot, and I often have to remove it before it can find the co...

Re: Star Trek: TV episodes and first 6 movies

Off hand, I doubt it will make a difference, but you could always try with a short feature. The FLAC profile converts the audio streams, and the WDTV profile compresses the headers and stuff. I'm leaning towards this being a Serviio issue. SC If I convert the MKV file to something else (MP4 for exa...
