Re: Asus BW-16D1HT troubles
As ever there is no definitive reason for this. I to had a 3.02 which worked fine with everything until AACS2.1 showed up and I had a lot of issues. Newer drives properly flashed to 3.10 work fine but when I upgraded the older drive to 3.10 I had the same problems which suggests the drive's laser or...

Re: What is the recommended external UHD drive for use with a AIO desktop?
In terms of price / performance combination my recommendation is ASUS BW-16D1HT or (only slightly slower) BC-12D2HT coupled with an adapter rather than an enclosure. You can still of course install the drive direct SATA but my tests show very little drop in performance via USB 3.0 and of course its ...

Do your previously successful rips work? If so its disk related and down to AACS 2.1.

Re: Looking to buy a "ready" out of the box ripper
You need to triple your redundancy, expensive but close to 100% failure. Primary - ideally internal SATA NAS rated Secondary - NAS again NAS rated drives Third - USB external synced folder to external drives in USB caddy or adapter. Allway sync payed for works well and automatically backs up your pr...

Re: UHD Friendly / Official 4K
My advice is to ditch backing up optically. It is unreliable and more expensive per GB. If you have a reasonably large collection backing up to HDD makes much more sense providing you triple your redundancy - high initial investment but pays you back in under 3 months with media costs in mind. If yo...

Re: Looking to buy a "ready" out of the box ripper
I did mean 8 TB, sorry! And just to add to all the excellent advice here, if you are a serious collector you need to approach this NASA style. HDD's WILL fail eventually rendering your backup a complete waste of time. My approach is as follows 1. Only buy NAS or better HDD spec. Western Digital but...

Re: New UHD Friendly Drives and Associated UHD Hardware. 45 Drives Sold in 2 Weeks
I am a complete non-techie. We have recently bought a new home, and it is so much smarter than us! We have a Control4 System that I am buying 2 8GB Western Digital Drives in a bay. The thought is to load all our blu ray movies (as well as photos and songs) on them, then we can access them through C...

Thanks for the post. Have never used one of these because they are not available in UK, well only at extortionate prices on Amazon. Can I ask what you pay in US?

Re: AACS2 O/C v65
The quality of these drives leaves a *LOT* to be desired. I got lucky with my NS60 and 16D1HT drives. But as time has gone on, quality has gone way down on the newer releases of them. So it's not surprising to some of us that have been around a while that you've managed to get defective drives. It'...

Re: AACS2 O/C v65
OK I bow to greater knowledge. Either my drive always had a defective laser and its only just showing up with newer titles or its getting worn out. Never mind just adds to my collection of bricks.
