Re: Crash processing BD+
Most discs work fine including 4k, blu ray, dvd. However I'm segfaulting with with Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade 4k "Type": "Blu-ray disc", "Name": "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade", "MetadataLanguageCode": "eng", "MetadataLang...

Re: Dealing with poor ASUS BW-16D1HT quality control
The WH16NS60 are available again, so I bought one and flashed the HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936 firmware to it with makemkvcon. I can confirm that it demonstrates the same intermittent "HARDWARE ERROR:TIMEOUT ON LOGICAL UNIT" issues I have described with the two BW-16D1...

Re: Dealing with poor ASUS BW-16D1HT quality control
Yes good drives have persistent issues and you've mentioned them. Let's stop with the all desktop drives are bad narrative and move on. A really good idea is to NOT buy drives off Amazon, a company known for shipping used and refurbished drives as new, and instead using one of the drive sellers her...

Re: Dealing with poor ASUS BW-16D1HT quality control
I just realized that it doesn't look like my debug log actually got attached to my above post for whatever reason. I will try again with another log exhibiting the problem with the current new drive. This log is after flashing the ASUS-BW-16D1HT-3.10-WM01601-211901041014.bin firmware, which doesn't ...

Dealing with poor ASUS BW-16D1HT quality control
I understand that the whole family of UHD friendly desktop drives have terrible quality control and new drives are often unreliable or unusable out of the box. My question is what exactly are the failure modes and how do I quickly determine if the one I just received from amazon.ca is one of these u...

Re: Question to all: MakeMKV without GUI, console only
I would love to see more functionality for makemkvcon, or even just documentation for the existing functionality like operating as a TCP server. The basic problem with using the GUI is that for each disk it requires several steps: 0) insert disc 1) open makemkv 2) scan the disc (wait a minute or two...

Segment map list truncated after 75 elements
I have a copy of the three disc Blade Runner 30th anniversary collectors edition. On the third disc with special features, 00581.mpls has a lot of entries in the segment map (Segment count: 108). It looks like makemkvcon stops listing them after 75 and instead adds an ellipsis. I see the same behavi...

Just to close the loop on this, I saw the same behaviour with 1.15.2, but it seems to be fixed in 1.15.3.

Re: Broadchurch S2D2 00031.mpls LIBMKV_TRACE: Exception: Error while reading input
Ah, the problem is only present in the latest version makemkv-bin_1.15.1. If I downgrade to makemkv-bin_1.15.0, I can rip the title without issue. The 1.15.0 debug output is attached.

Re: makemkvcon exit codes
I would ordinarily avoid a pile on post, but this seems to have been forgotten for 9 years and I agree that expected behaviour is to only return 0 when nothing went wrong.

Broadchurch S2D2 00031.mpls LIBMKV_TRACE: Exception: Error while reading input
All but one title on this disc will rip fine. The one that fails is 00031.mpls, segments map 27,28,29,30,31,32. The behaviour is consistent between both my drives BD-RE ATAPI iHBS212 2 53T1 BD-RE ASUS BW-161DHT 3.10 (patched libredrive firmware) I am able to do a full disk decrypted backup without i...

Re: Don't create wget output files
This still happens with the current MakeMKV v1.10.10 linux(x64-release). Most problematically, when using using libmmbd with mpv , which has recently fixed spam from libbluray. This wget output (not to mention the garbage file creation) is the sole remaining eyesore. This seem beyond the control of ...

Re: MAKEMKV 1.99 - Windows XP installer failure
This has been happening to me with every single update even though I make no modifications to the MakeMKV directory. Steps to reproduce on Windows 7: 1. Open outdated MakeMKV 2. Click the update link, which opens Firefox and downloads the installer 3. Run the installer from Firefox 4. Tell the insta...
