Got it fixed in the end (after a suggestion from ChatGPT): extracted the DTS-HD MA soundtrack using eac3to, then used eac3to again to re-insert the audio into a new .mkv file. Now got the full-fat soundtrack, properly synced.

As a workaround for now I've just ripped the M2TS file with Xreveal and the DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track now plays fine with Kodi.
