Question re: Dolby Vision backups vs. rips
Hi. Sorry if this has been covered in other threads but I just want to know if there is any DV info saved only in a full disc backup that is not saved when you rip the movie title individually? Since the beginning I have been content to play my UHD rips on my HTPC with HDR only but have been saving ...

Re: West Side Story (2021)
Technically, it's as many DIFFERENT dump files is better. Each dump file has characters at the end of the name that identify different versions of the disk out in the wild, which is why it is nice if people include the name of the file they sent. The keys can change with different pressings. Good t...

Re: Star Trek: The Original Series
Wait a minute, MakeMKV can too rip PiP because I ripped a commentary track like that from the Glory UHD. So now I'm even more confused. Anyway, on with the return.

Re: Star Trek: The Original Series
I ripped it. Likely a bad set and you’ll want to replace but you can clean each disc with soft cloth in case they have residue/film on them. You likely already know this but one angle is original in space special effects and other angel is new high def versions. I went for new versions as I’m not t...

Star Trek: The Original Series
Has anyone ripped this successfully? Purchased the complete series new off Amazon and was able to rip all episodes off the first disk (albeit very slowly) but the next 3 disks I've tried keep throwing up errors all over the place and failing to save several of the titles (with no apparent pattern to...

Re: Fury
Just curious. What is a encrypted backup good for? I guess as insurance if something happens to the original disc? I want to add a decrypted copy to my server to stream from. If I can’t do that then I’ll keep the original in a safe place. Just a precaution. Maybe it's just my setup but I've had a f...
Re: Fury
Thanks. I tried again from a different computer and was able to get the backup to save this time.xmenw wrote:I can confirm I made a successful backup using Linux version. Do ensure the disc hasn’t been sitting in the drive for a while.
Re: Fury
Encrypted copies you should be able to. Make sure you have the latest version. Some people have already been successful in this. Just don’t open the disc. Just dump it straight from the app if possible. I am using the latest version (1.12.2 Win x64) and whether I go to File > Backup or just hit the...
Re: Fury
http://www.makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=17489 Thanks for the info. I notice in the linked "AACS versions and revisions" post by Mike that he says that MakeMKV should still be able to make a non-decrypted full disk backup regardless of the protection. Can anyone else confirm...

This is a new UHD with no hashed key yet and I'm unable to submit a dump file to generate one or to save a full disk backup. Trying to open the disk or create a backup with "Decrypt video files" checked return the message "Fatal error occurred, program will now exit" with no dump...

Re: Postcards From the Edge
It was not a big deal for me, because I process EVERYTHING through handbrake, and handbrake figured out the correct aspect ratio when converting. Thanks so much for posting this. My next step was going to be to try to use Handbrake to fix it and I thought I was going to have to do a whole lot of tr...

Re: Postcards From the Edge
If you play the file with something like VLC from Videolan.org, does it display as 1080p or something else? Hi. I ran into the same issue. Played with VLC the file displays as 4:3 also so it's not just a Plex player issue. MediaInfo reports it as 1920x1080 but watching it the movie itself is squeez...

BSODs while using MakeMKV
Hello. I downloaded MakeMKV a couple weeks ago and have been really happy with it except lately I've run into a problem that it will crash my laptop when I try to save certain of my blu rays to my hard drive. Avatar Extended Collectors Edition has crashed it every time and at this point I've done ev...
