Re: Recommendation for best (most reliable and versatile) LibreDrive for 2024?
Please let us know your country of residence to give the best advice for a Pioneer. And also if you prefer a slim or 5,25" drive. I'm in the U.S. and I'd like to know the best DVD/BluRay reader (I don't burn them). I don't care if it is internal or external. If you are still sending out PMs I ...

Re: Does MakeMKV support CSS-MR discs?
I just opened a question regarding the same issue. The Man From UNCLE 8-Moives Collection notes the same thing. Only two of the four discs I've been able to rip so far. And Yes, I believe that they are a DVD-R. and not a DVD. They are purple. It appears to rip a title and at the end of it it states...

Re: DVDFab/MacTheRipper Error
I have the 33 disc Poirot series, purchased from Amazon. There is almost zero chance it is bootleg. It does say on the box it is remastered. But the stated purpose of the remastering is to put the episodes back in broadcast order. I can’t believe Amazon could sell these without attracting the atten...

Re: Does MakeMKV support CSS-MR discs?
Strange. I tried two different DVD readers and they both come up with the same message. The first is my external which ripped four others after this one and it hasn't given me any problems before. The other is an internal. I can't imagine a half dozen power fluctuations when tried to rip these two D...

Man from UNCLE 8-Movie Collection.
I'm trying to rip these DVDs and two out of four will not rip.
There is a label on the box indicating that the discs are intended to play only on a play-only device.
I was curious about that as it appears to be working.

Re: Stargate [Extended Cut]
I found with this DVD (Stargate Ultimate Edition Extended Cut) that I couldn't even begin a rip when selecting the first sound entry. Turning it off and the disc ripped fine.

Re: Issues with copy protected DVDs
I missed something. What TV series are you trying to rip? It only says "a tv series" but one of the responses says "same thing here" but I don't see the name of the TV series.
Thanks. Sorry if I'm bat blind or something.

Re: MakeMKV key expired
are you suggesting the user should change the date somehow? "Somehow" is usually very simple. On Windows, for example, at a command prompt, you type "date" followed by the date you want the computer to use. Start MakeMKV, then set the date to the current date. My suggestion, as ...

Farscape reporting DVD made with DVDFAB or .....
I thought that I'd mention this. It doesn't appear to be an actual problem though. Disregard. I found this is the same issue as : https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=32734 I'm backing up my Farscape DVDs and season 4 is giving me some unusual messages. The first disc is fine, but...

Re: Grantchester
Same issues with season 3. The three discs have three episodes each yet only one full episode shows up when I go to rip a disc. And then the files aren't there or the disc fails to rip with errors. I'll just use windows capture (gamebar) to make a close-enough backup.

General questions about drives and 'updating'
Just curious. I've read that drives will update themselves when media is inserted into them and the version of protection, or what ever is lower in the drives firmware, etc. etc. My question is, is this updated by simply placing the DVD/BluRay into the drive or is it from accessing the media on the ...
