I'm trying to rip these DVDs and two out of four will not rip.
There is a label on the box indicating that the discs are intended to play only on a play-only device.
I was curious about that as it appears to be working.

I found with this DVD (Stargate Ultimate Edition Extended Cut) that I couldn't even begin a rip when selecting the first sound entry. Turning it off and the disc ripped fine.

I just logged in and reported the same thing. No problems ripping them though.

I missed something. What TV series are you trying to rip? It only says "a tv series" but one of the responses says "same thing here" but I don't see the name of the TV series.

Same issues with season 3. The three discs have three episodes each yet only one full episode shows up when I go to rip a disc. And then the files aren't there or the disc fails to rip with errors. I'll just use windows capture (gamebar) to make a close-enough backup.

I've read that drives will update themselves when media is inserted into them and the version of protection, or what ever is lower in the drives firmware, etc. etc. My question is, is this updated by simply placing the DVD/BluRay into the drive or is it from accessing the media on the ...

A bit off topic but I'll chime in with my two cents. When a disc fails give us the option to save the currently ripped disk. I have discs that all episodes are in one file. One bad spot on the disc and Makemkv fails I get no episodes at all. :( Work around though: Use VLC to rip the DVD to get what ...
