It should probably be mentioned that the requirements for MakeMKV to run on OSX is not only OS X 10.5 or above but also an Intel based system.
It installs but will not launch on 10.5 on a PPC Apple. It might help clear up confusion in the future for someone.

Ejecting DVD
Sometimes I can't get the DVD to eject after a rip unless I close MakeMKV. I've never noticed this before this current build but, I dunno know if that's even relative. If I hit the eject button on MakeMKV nothing happens, if I select eject from the desktop DVD icon and then the MakeMKV eject button ...

Re: Does make MKV utilize quad cores?
MakeMKV doesn't do anything that would utilize Quad Core support. Everything it does simply relies on your drive or disc read/write speeds.
There's no encoding happening.
I can copy an 8Gb iso file to MKV in less than a minute on MakeMKV. Fast enough for me.

I think that's the only way as far as I can tell.

Re: How to convert vob video files?
Not sure MakeMKV can convert VOBs, try installing mkvtoolnix and mkvtoolnix-gui with your Ubuntu package manager.
It can combine multiple vobs or mkv files into one mkv.

Re: Aspect Ratio
Yeah
User error.
I realized later that I was ripping DVDs that were full screen on one side and wide on the other.
It does create widescreen just fine.

Re: Issues but no errors.
Beauty and the Beast is only copying the previews from the disc. It must be some tricky format that Disney uses in their titles to confuse ripping software. I have the same problem too with Snow White where it doesn't finish completely. The Snow White file doesn't appear to playback correctly either...

Re: Issues but no errors.
I've had the same issue as you had in your first post with a few disks. Original Sin, Unbreakable and Coyote Ugly just to name a few, they all reach a point and just finish suddenly but, not completely. I've tried ripping the same disks on different machines, one other box running the Linux client a...

Re: Conversion
I'll agree it does a pretty nice job doing exactly what it was designed to do. It's a very nice tool for making WDTV files. If I had to ask for one feature to add it would simply be to name the files it creates from the disk title. I realize it places the files in named folders but, I would rather t...

Re: Conversion
OMG! That is a huge file even reduced by 10%. Files that size sort of make a 1Tb HD seem not so big. I sort of wished MakeMKV crunched the files down even another 10%, I'm not sure you would really lose that much quality and another 10% would really add up in storage space in the long run. An option...

Re: Aspect Ratio
Same issue here, I've yet to create a widescreen format file with MakeMKV on both the Windows and the Linux versions.
The files play back fine on the WDTV just regular screen. The same files aren't in the WS format when I play them on the computer either though.

Re: Conversion
I just curious what size MKV files you're ending up with on the BD? My regular DVDs are ending up about anywhere from 3 to 6Gb depending on the length of movie. I try and only select the main movie during the process. I'm one of those types who really couldn't care less about the extra features and ...
