Re: MakeMKV within an VMware ESXi Guest
Digging up my older post, but the ultimate issue was the LG drive. At the time, I had not ran enough disks to pin point the issue to the drive. VMware ESXi all along was emulating the drive as expected.

Re: Firewall disc - Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:L-EC UNCORRECT
@Jeebs Hi! Every disk that breaks with the LG BT20N works fine with the Samsung SE-506AB. Retire your LG. No point in looking for trouble... Indeed. I have come to terms with the waste of cash and troubleshooting time. Leaving it with this: @lgelectronics #fail I am actively trying to find my own (...

Re: Firewall disc - Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:L-EC UNCORRECT
I have seen this error for functional disks. I have a BT20N by LG that errors out on 10-15% of my Blu Rays. I can take the exact same disk over to a Samsung SE-506AB drive and it will work fine. The only thing that I can think of is that there is some hardware within the drive that prevents our proc...

Samsung SE-506AB versus SE-506BB
Hello, I have a BT20N by LG (horrible, avoid...) that does not work well with MakeMKV. Seems to have some super special hardware  built in that causes headaches, but only on about 10-15% of the disks. Long story with LG, more than willing to share the background if anyone desires. Getting to t...

Re: MakeMKV within an VMware ESXi Guest
While I have not validated the solution against a known "broken" disk, I have passed the entire SATA controller through to the ESXi Guest running MakeMKV. The drive now is detected as the actual drive name instead of the VMware emulated drive. The BluRay drive was the only SATA device conn...

MakeMKV within an VMware ESXi Guest
Hello, I have had some issues with certain Bluray's providing errors while trying to read. I am able to take the disk to another drive that is not being passed from the VMware host and the disc is detected by MakeMKV correctly. The error being displayed is along these lines: Error 'Scsi error - MEDI...
