Re: Read error but backup "done" question
Thanks. As I obsess over this type of thing I re-rip'd using a different drive and no errors. Comparing the resulting files with an MD5 hash, both were equal. I assume you are correct - the read error occurred >= 1 time but ultimately it was successful.

Read error but backup "done" question
Saw a simple "Encountered Read Error", but NO hash-check failures. Single message in the output but also the message "Backup Done" was there. Curious - if no hash-check failures, does that mean the backup was successful but at some point there was a read error that was worked aro...

Re: Recent issues with LG WH16NS60
Will try that next. It's also possible given the heavy use it's just hitting its EOL, although I have old CDROM drives and BluRay drives from decade ago that work fine...

Recent issues with LG WH16NS60
Lately this drive (still on 1.00 firmware) has been throwing significant errors in MakeMKV and failing to rip anything. It seemed to coincide with a new SDF download. Other tools (AnyDVD) work fine with it - both BluRay and UHD, but MakeMKV will no longer rip UHD discs. I think - but have to re-conf...

Re: UHD disc backup question
Thanks. I didn't think so.
Know of any list that keeps track of these movies where this is employed? I suspect most of (all?) of Lionsgate. but curious if other studios have implemented similar.

UHD disc backup question
When doing a full disc backup, does MakeMKV also correct/remove playlist obfuscation? I am considering AnyDVD just for this purpose - as I make full folder backups. Two titles recently - Lionsgate - backup, but the playlist obfuscation is a problem for Dune 4K Max, JRiver Media Center, and other pla...

Re: Debug codes and UHD rips
Yep - I do see the debug messages on occasion as well and have never been an issue as far as I am aware. this was quit excessive however.
odd though one drive reported hash check errors and the other debug messages on the same disc.

Debug codes and UHD rips
Am ripping Robocop 4K (Arrow). The Diretors Cut is displaying a very large number of "Debug Code 0..." statements in the output window. Does this indicate any possible compromise to the rip? I know when I tried a different drive, instead of Debug codes I had hash check errors... many of th...

Re: Game of Thrones
Well not bad. All failed discs but one worked after rotary sander + car polish polishing! I'm going more aggressive on the one failed disc and see what happens. What a nightmare ripping this series has been. Anyway - add this to the list of options to clean a disc; in this case I tried all the usual...

Re: Game of Thrones
So... I kid you not on this: I took an orbital sander, a lambs wool disc, and Maguires 205 car polish that I had and polished the hell out of one of the discs. It read perfectly. Going to do another one and see what happens. Mind you this is a disc that failed every single time across 5 drives; popp...

Re: Game of Thrones
thanks. seems the copy (not rip) using Windows is also now stuck - i didn't watch the entire disc in the Oppo and it's entirely possible it won't play without issue either. Amazing this set - after some searching around, it seems a lot of folks are having issues. Maybe I'll try the other LG drive yo...

Game of Thrones
Has anyone had success ripping this series? Of the 8 seasons, season 2: Disc 1 and 3 fail; tried 5 different drives and two different pieces of software season 8: Disc 1 fails, two different sets. discs play fine in my Oppo UHD player, and oddly enough it seems I can (so far) copy the encrypted file...

Re: TENET UHD RB - Failed to open disk
The QC on UHD is terrible. Tenent was one of the worst for me; I just returned for an exchange the Lord of the Rings 4K set because one of the discs refused to rip at a certain point. I’ve had easily 20 UHD discs fail to backup with at least one well past the return/exchange date so I actually bough...

Re: TENET UHD RB - Failed to open disk
Amazon (US) version "64DA" still not working.
Bummer.
EDIT:
The disc won't even back up properly without decryption (makemkv says it backed up but one file failed hash check; however the disc never fully backs up - odd behavior) - no amount of cleaning helped, so exchanging it.
