Closing the loop on this:
It was a network issue. No root cause identified, but restarting my Netgear unmanaged switch mitigated it for now. I'm not hitting 113 MB/s write speed again and the Pioneer is hitting 3.8x.

Re: Pioneer BDr-XD08U Slow
Thanks.
Determined it's a network or drive issue - my speeds dropped from 100 MB/s to 11MB/s. Need to do some testing and check smartctl as well.

Pioneer BDr-XD08U Slow [SOLVED] [Network Issue]
Have this drive with FW 1.04. Bought it maybe 2-3 months ago. Over time I have noticed it has become incredibly slow to rip UHDs (it was a champ prior to this!). For example on my Seinfeld UHDs it can take hours to rip one disc. These are triple layer discs - at least the bath I am on now, so maybe ...

Benign error? Error 'OS error - The end-of-file marker has been reached.
I see this on occasion:
Error 'OS error - The end-of-file marker has been reached.
But the backup completes. Does that error have any impact on the backup?
Thanks in advance

Re: Issue with full dis backup for Grease UHD
Following up - Can't explain it, but the backup from DVDFab works, from MakeMKV it does not, but *only* when using full menu playback. If I play the .mpls for main title or the m2ts for the main title, it works fine in either case. Given that DVDFab seems to change some of the jar files, I suspect t...

Re: Issue with full dis backup for Grease UHD
It's not that. My PC is quite overpowered for even UHD playback.
This is one UHD rip out of hundreds at this point.
The last test I'll do is rip directly to MKV vs full-disc and see if the issue manifests itself there.

Issue with full disk backup for Grease UHD
Using latest version (v18.0.1), I ripped Grease UHD to a full disc folder backup. Here's some interesting results: 1: MakeMKV: Audio stutters with dropped frames from full-disc playback 2: XReveal: Audio stutters with dropped frames from full-disc playback 3: DVDFab: Audio is fine. Menu playback doe...

Re: Read error but backup "done" question
Thanks. As I obsess over this type of thing I re-rip'd using a different drive and no errors. Comparing the resulting files with an MD5 hash, both were equal. I assume you are correct - the read error occurred >= 1 time but ultimately it was successful.

Read error but backup "done" question
Saw a simple "Encountered Read Error", but NO hash-check failures. Single message in the output but also the message "Backup Done" was there. Curious - if no hash-check failures, does that mean the backup was successful but at some point there was a read error that was worked aro...

Re: Recent issues with LG WH16NS60
Will try that next. It's also possible given the heavy use it's just hitting its EOL, although I have old CDROM drives and BluRay drives from decade ago that work fine...

Recent issues with LG WH16NS60
Lately this drive (still on 1.00 firmware) has been throwing significant errors in MakeMKV and failing to rip anything. It seemed to coincide with a new SDF download. Other tools (AnyDVD) work fine with it - both BluRay and UHD, but MakeMKV will no longer rip UHD discs. I think - but have to re-conf...

Re: UHD disc backup question
Thanks. I didn't think so.
Know of any list that keeps track of these movies where this is employed? I suspect most of (all?) of Lionsgate. but curious if other studios have implemented similar.

UHD disc backup question
When doing a full disc backup, does MakeMKV also correct/remove playlist obfuscation? I am considering AnyDVD just for this purpose - as I make full folder backups. Two titles recently - Lionsgate - backup, but the playlist obfuscation is a problem for Dune 4K Max, JRiver Media Center, and other pla...

Re: Debug codes and UHD rips
Yep - I do see the debug messages on occasion as well and have never been an issue as far as I am aware. this was quit excessive however.
odd though one drive reported hash check errors and the other debug messages on the same disc.

Debug codes and UHD rips
Am ripping Robocop 4K (Arrow). The Diretors Cut is displaying a very large number of "Debug Code 0..." statements in the output window. Does this indicate any possible compromise to the rip? I know when I tried a different drive, instead of Debug codes I had hash check errors... many of th...
