The "LB20", "WR55" and the fact that there's no LibreDrive information, as well as the fact that "all the docs inside the drive box were in chinese", all combined make me think that this is indeed a counterfeit drive ...

This looks very much like a "bad" (and possibly counterfeit) drive to me, or at the very least a drive with an enclosure that's not "playing nice" with MakeMKV. Did you buy it from a Chinese seller, perchance...?
