I believe this is voltage SAG. UHD drivess draw a significant current spike on the 5V line when the laser assembly kicks into high-speed reading for dense triple-layer discs.

Pioneer resets their year alphabet periodically.

Position 1 (the first letter) is the Year, and Position 2 (the second letter) is the Month (A through L for Jan-Dec).
Pioneer reset their year cycle to start at 'A' in 2001.

So for NIDL001216JP:

1st char 'N' = 2014 (since A=2001, B=2002... N=2014 ...
