Unfortunately in my case the backup isn't successful, it bails out before it gets to the end of the disc.
Hi, sorry to reply to an old post but I had a very similar issue and was also able to create a full rip. I'm not sure what's causing it, but there's another report on it in this thread ...

Hi, I had the same issue (failing during scan without error message) and was also able to resolve it with a different DVD to ISO utility. Posting here in case the debug logs help:
