That’s exactly how I understand it as well. You need to switch to the "DE_LG_BU40N_1.03_MK.bin" firmware to replace the encrypted V1.05 firmware. After that, you can flash the OmniDrive firmware directly.

It was the enclosure's fault! I can confirm 100% that the Delock 42603 enclosure does not provide an optimal SATA-to-USB connection. Furthermore, the PCB inside the enclosure lacks a port for a power adapter.
