I found a PIONEER BDR-208M . I think this is a refurbished unit. Can this be flashed to rip UHD Disks?

Appreciate the suggestion MartyMcNuts,
Cleaning with a qtip and alcohol has been a big improvement. In windows I can now watch several Bluray disks via VLC and I'm tetsing extracting tracks with MakeMKV. However, in the dedicated Linux box it just stalls

Not really sure if it's related but my brand new ASUS BC-12D2HT wasn't able to rip a regular blu-ray on Linux (MakeMKV 1.18.3) until I flashed it with MK firmware. (I don't remember what was the exact response but I think MakeMKV just sort of hang/loop indefinitely when attempt to "parse" the disc ...
