Re: Judder/studder in blu ray rips
Sorry for the long delay, i've been pretty busy. Dave, I had a chance to test your file...it works!! it isn't makemkv's fault after all. maybe it's very possible we have isolated the issue to very very transient peak bit rate spikes that somehow don't appear when you do a bit rate analysis. ...or so...

Re: Judder/studder in blu ray rips
Okay, so I downloaded your Potter.mkv clip. For what it's worth, it plays smoothly on my Mac using Plex, no stuttering. Bit rates vary from moment to moment between around 14 Mb/sec up to the mid 20s Mb/sec. I used HandBrake to encode your clip with my fast conversion settings and CQ factor 21. The...

Re: Judder/studder in blu ray rips
yeah i will try that when i get a free minute soon. i never really thought it was makemkv's "fault" but had to at least consider that option to cover all bases. thinking about your theory, it actually makes a lot more sense to me and seems like it could actually be the right one. let me tr...

Re: Judder/studder in blu ray rips
Yes, I think that's the case too. Most of my movies play fine from what I can tell, including movies that are much larger in size. I had someone remux to m2ts and it fixed it, but when remuxing back to mkv the problem was still there.

Judder/studder in blu ray rips
I am using the WDtv live to play my blu ray rips. Some files, after ripping, play fine in VLC but on the live motion does not seem "smooth" and there is a fair bit of judder which unfortunately is distracting to the point of annoyance. It appears like a frame rate issue, possibly dropped f...

Re: MakeMKV slows down during ripping till it "dies" ?
I also have this issue. Also using an LG external, but on the mac. Maybe this is related to drive speed? I know the macs aren't exactly known for drive speed so maybe this is it...

Is ripping fine, then partway thru will be at 0.0x a while
Almost every time I rip a blu ray it will stop partway through and be at 0.0x for a while while making a bunch of whirring noises. Almost as if it's come to some "tough" part in the rip process. Then for no reason after a few minutes, will start back up again and finish fine. Is this somet...

Re: MakeMKV 1.7.2 and 1.7.1 failed BluRay Rip
Also, for the record the error mine keeps giving is: Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:1090' occurred while reading 'BD-RE HL-DT-ST BD-RE BP40NS20 ML01' at offset '24977078272' maybe that "offset" code somehow can tell us what its having trouble with? Like I said though, it doesn't seem to ...

Re: MakeMKV 1.7.2 and 1.7.1 failed BluRay Rip
I am getting this problem too. This is the second time it's happened in between only 3 out of the last 3 rips. What is going on here? It's not makemkv's fault, because it won't mount to the desktop right away either. it just makes a lot of repetitive whirring noises, one of them clearly sounds like ...

YES!
I don't know how I just noticed this until now.
Very very much appreciated, sir!
You definitely will get my donation (and I hardly ever buy software)

Re: REQ: zlib compress subs by default
Yes, I can do it, but it adds an extra step that is quite annoying.

I joined the forum just so I could +++++++1!!!
Please add this feature! It is only recently that I realized this is the reason why subtitles don't work on my WDlive. Unfortunately, I can't use mkvmerge (have a mac) and even if i could, this would REALLY make my life easier! Please Mr. Mike, HELP!
