Re: Drive Recommendations for Noob Not Concerned w/UHD
Does anyone have recommendations for what drive I should get if I'm not concerned about ripping UHD? I've been slowly working on ripping my entire DVD and (non-UHD) blu-ray collection for a couple years now, but my current drive (ASUS BC-12B1ST b) seems to be giving up the ghost. It stopped detecti...

Re: Pioneer external 5.25" USB drives for sale (Asus BW-16D1H-U Pro & BW-16D1X-U) - already 4K UHD crossflashed & tested
I'm adding one Pioneer BDR‑X13EBK drive to the list of available drives with factory firmware post 12/2022, which means I'm unable to crossflash it.
If you're able to get a fair crossflash price from Billycar11, this offer is perfect for you.

Re: Keeping a Likely Clone Pioneer BDR-209DBK vs Picking up an LG Drive
I have never seen any BDR‑209 units newer than 2019. In 2024, only the BDR‑212 and BDR‑213 models were being produced. You most likely bought a Chinese recase. The label is definitely fake. Please upload a few photos of this drive so others can be warned. I'm curious what's inside. I wouldn't be sur...

Re: UK Advice: Best 4K Ripping Strategy Given Strict Case, Environmental, & Lifespan Constraints?
I've read through your requirements, and if I were in your place, I would definitely rule out slimline USB drives. They're simply too delicate. If a cat sits on one, it could easily end badly for the drive. The option I recommend is getting an Asus BW‑16D1H(X)‑U that has a Pioneer drive inside. The ...

Re: Pioneer internal 5.25" SATA drives for sale - already 4K UHD crossflashed & tested
skyrider was very helpful and informative when I was inquiring about the drives they're selling. I ended up purchasing the BDR-212DBK. I received shipment tracking information within the same day after sending payment, and the drive arrived in about a week or so. Packaging was excellent and the dri...

Re: ASUS BW-16D1X-U
Have you ever come across an Asus BW‑16D1H‑U Pro with a serial number starting with M4…? I'm wondering what's inside that unit. Looks like manufacturing date of April 2021. If the BW-16D1H-U follows the same pattern as the BW-1601X-U then it should have a Pioneer inside. Thanks for the information....

I would like to thank skyrider for my Verbatim 43888 w. Pioneer BDR-UD04 1.14 (shipped to France). The drive arrived quickly and was in perfect condition. Here's what I tried to do with the drive so far : Audio CD playing - worked flawlessly Audio CD ripping - worked flawlessly DVD ripping - worked...

Re: Pioneer external slimline USB drives for sale (various OEM like Verbatim) - already 4K UHD crossflashed & tested
I've updated the list of available drives. Additional Verbatim 43888 units with the BDR‑UD04 have been added, these are official UHD drives in like new condition. I've also decided to sell two Pioneer BDR‑XD08 drives with factory post 12/2022 firmware, which means I'm unable to crossflash them. If y...

Re: swap parts of ASUS drives
First, please take some photos of the drive and post them here on the forum. Also show the entire label that is attached to the drive. We will try to determine whether what you bought is a genuine BW‑16D1HT or a fake. Every ASUS BW‑16D1HT I’ve seen has a serial number starting with KL… and your driv...

Re: BW-16D1X-U viability for UHD ripping – internal drive lottery concerns
All ASUS BW‑16D1X‑U units that can still be found in stores now are the last remaining stock, and they contain an LG drive inside. In May 2025, Asus replaced Pioneer drives with LG drives because Pioneer discontinued the manufacturing of optical drives. I have the last 3 units of the ASUS BW‑16D1X‑U...

Re: Pioneer internal 5.25" SATA drives for sale - already 4K UHD crossflashed & tested
Great. If you need a drive, just let me know. I also have a few Pioneer BDR‑XD08TB and BDR‑XD08EMB‑S units, but unfortunately the ones I received were manufactured in 2023, so for now I can't crossflash them for 4K/UHD support. We'll see how things develop. I can crossflash xd08 email me if you wan...
