Re: If you're experiencing rip errors, please read here first!

Could you please update to the latest version of MakeMKV : https://mega.nz/file/fupUEYBC#CJ0JViHx- ... OLuPXSHD_k

And let me know if the error still shows up ?

Nobody seems to be able to access the main website at the moment.

Re: SDF error recovering BU40N DE_LG_BU40N_1.00.bin

Hi,

I have several questions.

First, out of curiosity, what was your drive's *original* firmware before the very first flash ? BU40N 1.05 maybe ?

Second, normally a flash either succeeds or it doesn't (yes, even in spite of the error code). It looks like the RECOVER to BU40N 1.00 succeeded ...

Private message sent, please post in this thread again if you are unable to read it, brolo.

Also :

My understanding of Omnidrive firmware is that it does *not* change the firmware version. If your drive already had 1.02 & was patched/flashed before you received it, after flashing Omnidrive you ...

Hi Zombiciego,

I am glad to have been of help. Thank you for letting me know how it went.

I still haven't found a single player that handles every format perfectly

I agree completely, even for regular Blu-ray discs, actually.

As an example :

VLC is very good overall, sometimes handles Blu ...

My understanding of Omnidrive firmware is that it does *not* change the firmware version. If your drive already had 1.02 & was patched/flashed before you received it, after flashing Omnidrive you will not see the firmware version change - Omnidrive firmware is a modified version of 1.02 ...

Re: BP50NB40 (SVC NB40, MT1959) - rawflash says "Done successfully" but firmware stays at 1.03, tray dead

You should use the boot ID of the firmware you want to replace, not the boot ID of the firmware you want to flash or the boot ID "of the drive" (this last one is the one that will likely be in the firmware dump if you do a firmware dump, for example).

When I read the boot ID of the firmware you ...

SUCCESS! The firmware flashing process worked and my desktop drive was able to perform a complete backup of a UHD disk without any issues, and very quickly and silently! Thank you so much! :D

You're welcome !

Just in case, could you please confirm the firmware from Marty's pack that I should ...

Hi again Zombiciego,

Thank you for this.

Also, is there any recommended way to back up the original Buffalo firmware before flashing? or this is not necessary/possible?

You could try but I believe there would be no point. It is extremely likely your firmware is indeed encrypted, so only a non ...

Leave the drive unplugged untill you do the longer it's on with the wrong fw the more likely it is to be dead

Quoting this because it's important.

Recover with the old nb40 fw

That's what they did and it failed, apparently :

I tried Recovery with:

BP50NB40-NB40-1.00-Clean.bin

The GUI ...

As incredibly unlikely as it may sound given this firmware version... I believe I have the original Hitachi-LG flasher for this particular firmware. Just please give me a short amount of time to see if I can extract the firmware from the flasher, and if not I'll just upload the flasher itself and ...

I cannot get the main webpage or download links to work either. Still running 8.18.3. Google finds 8.18.4 on softonic dot com but would prefer not to use some 3rd party download. I have a purchased license.

I know this is technically a 3rd-party download, but since I am using Linux and am a ...

Re: New to MakeMKV: First time UHD MKV

This has nothing to do with the "highest AACS version". It's extremely likely that your issue is due to MakeMKV missing the Volume Unique Key for this disc, and therefore it cannot decrypt the UHD disc. Hopefully MakeMKV generated a dump file when it was unable to read the disc. Send this tgz dump ...
