Having several versions of Java installed on your system may not be such a good thing, as there can be conflicts.
I don't know how to check/confirm those things.
The Windows one can be done simply by going into System Information. Windows will tell you whether you have a 32-bit or a 64-bit OS ...

Re: Disc Won't Play in VLC
I get an error saying Java isn't detected on my system
Odd. Could you please confirm the following things :
1) You have a 64-bit Windows operating system,
2) You are using the latest 64-bit version of VLC,
3) You are using the latest 64-bit version of Java.

Re: Disc Won't Play in VLC
Have you tried mounting the ISO file as a virtual drive and opening the virtual drive as a Blu-ray in VLC, as well as updating Java (in case an outdated version of Java could be preventing you from accessing the menus ?)
EDIT : To clarify, have you tried this ?

Re: AACS V82 Blu-ray Disc dump Help needed
Not so sure that MakeMKV would use keydb.cfg for regular BD (AACS 1.0), although mike might have made v82 an exception.
Before I had LibreDrive enabled, I had to use FindVUK to find the correct VUKs for at least two "v82" discs, and I'm pretty sure MakeMKV was able to decrypt those discs only ...

Likely a false positive. I did an antivirus scan for the Windows, MacOS, and Linux versions of MakeMKV 1.18.4 and it said everything's fine.

Re: LG WP50NB40 errors
Also, you've probably figured this out on your own already, but make sure there is no disc in the drive and the tray is closed before flashing. Power cycle the drive after you're done flashing.stratagem wrote:First error I received was 0xff05c103 followed by 0x82052603.

Re: Ripping is fine, but what about burning ?
I haven't tried it, but according to Hitachi-LG, you can burn 128GB quad-layer discs with it. These are probably very hard to find nowadays though, but you can still find 100GB BDXL discs fairly easily.

Re: Files integrity
The problem with the situation here is not so much that MakeMKV might be tampered. Rather it is that the we have no idea what the "extra layer" might contain, e.g. something that trigger / leverage a loophole or so in gzip or tar. (Of course it is not very likely for it to be malicious or ...

Re: Files integrity
Both .tar.gz files for Linux are correct, but mis-packaged. Do the following:
$ wget https://www.makemkv.com/download/makemkv-bin-1.18.3.tar.gz
$ gunzip makemkv-bin-1.18.3.tar.gz
$ mv makemkv-bin-1.18.3.tar makemkv-bin-1.18.3.tgz
$ sha256sum makemkv-bin-1.18.3.tgz
and you should get ...

Re: Is the BU40N still the best overall choice?
Please note that the LG HLDS BU40N.ARAA10B plug-in USB-C port can be moved to the USB-C port. Please note that only 1 meter of cable can be used on the PC computer. From the 1-meter USB C cable to the USB C cable, the LG HLDS BU40N.ARAA10B can be connected to the PC and cannot be used for UHD 4K ...

Re: Broken libmmbd with libbdplus
Personally, I don't recommend "direct disc playback" because it puts unnecessary wear-and-tear on your drive.
Is this true even if you plan on watching a Blu-ray movie only once ? Could anyone please clarify this ? It would take forever to make a backup copy of each disc from my Walking Dead ...
