Thanks keydb_helper for the note about SamuriHL's KeyDBTool, I did actually use this first, but didn't realise it could be used in the way you suggested - still pretty new at this ;-) sorry for wasting time and bandwidth!
My 'All The President's Men' UHD disk is now being read in makemkv correctly ...
