Re: Issues reading Disks

Issue is the Alias discs....So, either I have to get both copies from our library system, or just spend $18 for a fresh copy of Alias, because we bought this set and never opened it back in 2006. :(
Thanks for the update - annoying to have unused discs fail, but at least you've got the others ...

An interesting reversal on the situation that others have reported here - any idea if it uses a dual lens or not? (if so, it could be the switching mechanism).

Re: Hashed Key Mechanism

I would like to request a method for users to be able to download / import the hashed key files manually so they don't have to make the program go online itself. Seconded - I use MakeMKV on an offline system so any connectivity requirement is a no-go.

There’s a specific reason MakeMKV doesn't ...

Re: Is a DVD drive worth it in additional to a BD drive?

A DVD drive can offer features not present in BluRay players - I've not come across any BluRays offering LightScribe for example.

I would like to ask anyone with experience here, what exactly they mean by Blu-Ray lasers "wearing out"? The very earliest LaserDisc players had gas-powered lasers which ...

Re: Issues reading Disks

Really thought there would have been someone who would have commented on the Pioneer drives or suggestions with fighting these issues. That's because you've not given anyone detailed information on what the problem is - what error messages you are receiving, what your drive setup is, etc.

First ...

Re: MakeMKV not ripping some of my Blu-rays and not others?

Thanks for posting the information requested. Yet I was able to rip a different Blu-ray just before this one. That, in itself, would suggest a disc rather than drive problem and given the age of the disc listed, Tomty89's observation seems spot on.

If you were running a Windows system, then ...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026

Recently flashed an LG BD-RE WH16NS58 drive to WH16NS60_1.02_MK without incident - thanks to those here who provided the tools, firmware and instructions.

However I did notice another benefit aside from LibreDrive. When I first installed the LG drive, I noticed immediately how much slower system ...

Re: Bluray drive Doesn't work with VLC.

Note that libaacs does not deal with bus encryption and can be somewhat inferior in getting regular BD decrypted... Thanks for the extra info - and of course LibreDrive is a necessity for UHD discs.

Re: Bluray drive Doesn't work with VLC.

Welcome to the forums SkaalZ,

VLC, as distributed, can cope with encryption on DVDs but requires extra components to deal with the more complex encryption used on BluRay discs. Specifically you need to add the libaacs component and acquire recent AACS keyfiles - see VideoLAN - AACS for more ...

Ezatoka wrote: Fri Jul 10, 2026 6:03 pm Why not just renaming xpvcrt.dll to msvcrt.dll then?
Because it won't work - the msvcrt.dll version in the Windows \system32 folder will take precedence. You could try replacing that version instead, but then this makes it a system-wide change with possible/probable effects on other software.

Re: Makemkv on Win XP

For those interested, here is how to get MakeMKV to run on Windows XP:

If you don't yet have one, download and install a hex editor (I'd recommend the free HxD );
Download Xompie ;
Extract the xpvcrt.dll file from Xompie and place it in the MakeMKV program files folder;
Make backup copies of ...
