Re: Pioneer BDR-206DBK Optical Drive - Anyone else use it?
I have the BD205 in an OWC enclosure and while it worked great for the first year of use. It has grown stedily worse over time with failing to read the latest movie releases. Keeps failing with SCSI errors. I bought a $50.00 Samsung portable drive to compare against and this inexpensive unit reads a...

Re: Problems converting different BDs to MKV
Are these recent releases? After 18 months of flawless mkv rips using my OWC Elite Pro 12x Pioneer BD-205 drive, it started failing on newer BD releases with hardware errors and other odd problems related to protection code being revoked by the drive and other odd error reports. It reads DVDs fine a...

Re: Rips Randomly Stopped Working
I was able to rip my Deathly Hollows Part 2 disc with my new Samsung drive with no issues. Same with The Descendants disc. My Pioneer BD-205 failed to read both of these new BD releases after several attempts. No idea why, but there ya go. Your problem is probably drive related as well since my late...

Re: Harry Potter 7 Part 2 and The Descendants
Just wanted to update and close this thread with my final report. My new Samsung drive was able to succesfully rip my Harry Potter and The Descendants discs with no hardware or encryption errors! For whatever reason, this $100.00 drive was able to read these two discs while my $280.00 PWC Pioneer BD...

One time and then it failed on subsequent attempts. A bug in the v32 stuff could be intermittent. ??setarip_old wrote:@GG007

Re: Rips Randomly Stopped Working
I wonder if this is related to my own failed attempts to rip this same disc with my OWC Mercury Elite Pro aka Pioneer BD-205? Never had any problems before, but this disc and the Descendants both failed. Went as far as exchanging both at Amazon, but the replacements also failed. Will be attempting t...

Because I couldn't log in with the original one after several attemps. I haven't changed my login info but my password wouldn't work.setarip_old wrote:@Goldengoose7, @gg007

Re: Harry Potter 7 Part 2 and The Descendants
I just order a Samsung SE-506AB/TSBD 6X USB2.0 External Slim Blu-ray Writer Drive from Amazon after reading that it works great with a Mac and also with MakeMKV. Only cost $100.00 and I am a PRIME member so if it has the same problem as my expensive OWC/Pioneer drive I can always return it. I will r...

Re: Harry Potter 7 Part 2 and The Descendants
I got my replacement of Harry Potter 7 Part 2 and this copy won't even open at all.
I get the following error from MakeMKV:
Can't read AACS VID from disc - most likely current AACS host certificate is revoked by your drive
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted

Re: Harry Potter 7 Deathly Hollows Part 2
Nope. Not a copy protection issue. AACS does not stop the transfer of data. OK...Thanks again! I hope the replacements work properly. I will report back when they arrive either way. If they had defects in them, they would have had to have been at the microscopic level cause as I said, they looked p...

Re: Harry Potter 7 Deathly Hollows Part 2
Bad disc or failing drive. There is no copy protection that would stop you reading the disc, which is what your drive is reporting. Thanks for the reply. I just realized that I posted this in the wrong section. Regarding the errors... Must be bad discs then since I just got done ripping two other B...

Harry Potter 7 Part 2 and The Descendants
I tried ripping this disc twice and got the same errors in the same places. The disc is brand new so I am not sure what is going on. I had similar errors when trying to rip "The Descendants" earlier today. I thought at first I had a bad disc until I ran into the same problems with this Har...
