Re: BU40N issues

Are the MakeMKV versions different perchance? If they differ, maybe try to manually get MakeMKV installed (the GUI resides in the OSS Version of the files you can manually download from the main MakeMKV webpage. The other one is just the commandline version) I did also notice that the physical butto...

Re: Verbatim 43888 and 43889

@science-nerd I have not decided what I am going to do. I can buy brand new Verbatim with the LG BU40N inside. I am in Europe so shipping, taxes etc is not a big issue. I did order something else from Ebay a few weeks ago and it seems that all the costs for shipping and handling are included with t...

Re: MakeMKV can't read disks anymore and behaves weird

When I cross-reference several things (e.g. system logs, bash history), the result matched pretty much my memory: 1. MakeMKV 1.18.2 is working but has AACS problems with a disk (first time I have ever seen something like this) 2. Upgrade to MakeMKV 1.18.3 ... which is now broken (as described) 3. D...

Re: Verbatim 43888 and 43889

That is not bad, then the hardware is recent. They probably had a lot of Pioneer drives for the Verbatim drive and that was the right call, seems like these BluRay capable drives are selling like crazy now even though production is no more, or at least on hiatus. There are plenty of Verbatim drives...

Re: MakeMKV just won't work.

Has this issue been fixed yet ? I am still experiencing the same issues. I have made sure I am part of the CD rom groups ect.. VLC can see my drive and play dvd's just fine and so does k3b and dvdbackup apps. The problem is Makemkv complains about not able to get full access to drive and just wont ...

Re: Complete Linux instructions to downgrade Hitachi/LG BU40N Blue-Ray firmware to v1.3 for makemkv

Thank you for this detailed and useful guide. I followed the steps and encountered no error, but at the end of the flashing process, when I check my drive information nothing is changed and the original FR07 firmware is still there. Do you have any clue? I am on Arch Linux. I read that some drive e...

Re: MakeMKV can't read disks anymore and behaves weird

I did the following: 1. remove makemkv 2. remove the ~/.MakeMKV dir 3. reinstall MakeMKV 1.18.2 (the last version I knew was working) Still, the problem remains. Are there any log files I can look at? If yes, where? Were any updates run between working and not working states? Perhaps some dependenc...

Re: LG BP55EB40 - flash issue

Can you provide the exact and correct step-by-step flashing procedure for an LG drive BP55EB40 SVC Code EB52? The information is somewhat scattered across the forum, and it’s hard to figure out what exactly needs to be done. Thank you in advance. If you are on Linux, see here https://forum.makemkv....

Re: Unable to Rip 4K Blu-ray

Seems like you need to flash MK firmware for your drive to unlock 4k UHD rips. You will need BP60NB10-1.02-MK, in a single flash step, it is encrypted so don't forget the enc flag. You can follow my guide here to get makemkv v1.17.7 running without touching your original install https://forum.makemk...

Re: Newbie needs help finding a 4K UHD drive

I got a few of the Verbatim 43888 and can give you info or hook you up with a pre-flashed drive if you don't want to risk it.
Also from Germany :D

What's your makemkv drive info? Don't forget to redact / delete the serial number before posting

Re: MakeMKV can't read disks anymore and behaves weird

You should try to isolate the cause.

First backup your configs, then wipe makemkv and do a fresh install, see if old known working discs are readable again.

Then you would know if newest makemkv works.

After that you can try the AACS update again to not run into problems with both at the same time

Re: Verbatim Slimline X6 ULTRA HD 4K 43888 - my homelab

I’m thinking about purchasing this model. Will it be suitable for playing back and ripping UHD discs, and which firmware does it need to be flashed with? It will probably contain the LG BU40N drive, got one of them and it has nicely Ripped dozens of DVDs so far. You need to flash BU40N 1.03-MK firm...

Re: LG BP55EB40 - flash issue

Which svc code is recommended for flashing, and what is the best manufacturing date of the drive? For flashing, a LG drive should meet all of the below: Manufacture date 2016+ Drive platform MT1959 SVC: EB50, NB10, NB12, NB50, NB52, NS50, NS55, NS60 (not sure if there is an EB52 or not but if there...
