Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
Well, it is going to be quite difficult to find anything these days, as I said, none of them are being manufactured and the worrld's supply is dwindling extremely fast! Maybe the ASUS BW-16D1X-U would be the best bet. It may contain either a Pioneer or a LG drive inside. I have no idea on the price...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
Verbatim 43887 (normally a Pioneer BDR-UD03), 43888 (contains a LG BU40N), 43889 (contains a LG BU40N) or 43890 (can be either a Pioneer BDR-UD03 or a LG BU40N). Tried looking for some of these online and it doesn't seem like any are available right now and all are on back order. Any other recommen...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
Nope, no idea. Did you test the drive with a blu-ray before flashing just to make sure the drive worked and wasn't faulty to begin with? If you are going to return it, you can do the RECOVER process again, this time, selecting the current BU40N firmware that is on the drive, then choose the BP50NB1...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
Sure, it's worth a try. USB-C is the better option when available. I tried to use a USB-C to MicroUSB cable direct to my motherboard and it still didn't work. Even tried using a dock and it didn't work. Any idea why a brand new drive would do this after being flashed? Starting to feel like I should...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
Ok, all good. 1. Ensure you insert the disc first, let the OS initialise it before you open up MakeMKV. 2. Ensure the drive is getting enough power. Don't use case ports as these often don't provide enough constant power for optical drives. Use ports direct from the motherboard or an AC self-powere...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
Paste the MakeMKV drive info and libredrive info sections so I can see if it flashed correctly. If it still says BP50NB40 then you haven't flash it correctly. Here is the drive info as I flashed it. Drive Information OS device name: F: Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST Product: BD-RE BU40N Revision: 1.00 Seri...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
No, that is not what I mean. I said the first post of the SDFtool Flasher thread. Hi Marty, I found the thread and followed the gif but now I'm getting a error where my drive says no disc when I have a disk in it. Do you know how to fix that? Paste the MakeMKV drive info and libredrive info section...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
Firmware date: 2121-07-08 16:03 So, it's firmware is from 2021 (MakeMKV has a glitch that shows the second digit as a 1). You can flash this easily by following the 2 step procedure under the "For the BP50NB40 SVC NB52" section in the initial post of the SDFtool Flasher thread. There is a...

Copy/paste the MakeMKV drive info and libredrive info sections. Hi Marty, I realized I replied to the wrong person thinking it was you. Sorry for that. Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
Hi all, I just got into the world of blu ray ripping and I'm not gonna like, I have no idea what I'm doing even after I read through the main post :?. I just bought a new BU50NB40 drive that has NB52 for some of its code or whatever (I saw that was important somewhere). My current question(s) is I ...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
Copy/paste the MakeMKV drive info and libredrive info sections. Hi Marty, I just looked at the drive info in my normal desktop settings to get this info. When I tried to open up the beta version of makemkv it said that it was too old and that I would need a registration key to continue. Unfortunate...
