Re: My Verbatim 43888 drive can't read 4K UHD discs anymore
This is one of the most easily flashed drives. It literally takes seconds to do. Others are more complicated, but this one is super easy to flash.

Re: 4K Too Big
Yeah, well you could go either way. Re-encode at 1080p resolution retaining a reasonably high video bitrate bringing the file size down to that of a regular 1080p blu-ray or re-encode at 4K resolution with a lower bitrate still bringing the file size down to approx a 1080p (or a little bit ...

Re: 4K Too Big
A bit pointless downsizing the resolution. May as well just rip the blu-ray disc! A slightly better option would be to re-encode the 4K video to around half of the bitrate. This way you still keep the 4K res and it'll still look pretty good on a large TV.
Personally, I re-encode all of my ...

Re: 4K Too Big
Hi there,
As we know who have bought any computer equipment lately, SSD prices went through the roof, which led to more people buying mechanical hard drives. So, now they've gone up 50% in the last few months. I want to minimize the costs for backing up my media library. I've pulled every hard ...

Re: Expired Beta Key
MakeMKV only checks the date against key expiration when the program is loaded.
A common dodge for the expired beta key is to set your system date to a date when the key WAS valid, start MakeMKV, then reset your date to current. Until you stop MakeMKV (it can sit quietly in your system tray ...

Re: Expired Beta Key
Not just yet. In the future? Absolutely. I just sank $1200 into four 18 TB external hard drives to back up my massive media collection, so I'm broke. And, that's not even counting the 3 bluray drives I bought.

Re: Expired Beta Key
Do you know the exact limitations of having an expired Beta Key? It still appears to make ISOs of encrypted DVDs. I haven't tried Blurays/UHD dics. I assume those would not work?

Expired Beta Key
When do we get the new Beta Key? My MakeMKV is saying the old one is expired.

Re: RipGuard issues
I'm backing up my DVD/Bluray collection, and I encountered my first RipGuard DVD. While the LibreDrive LG slimline BP50NB40-NB50 flashed to BP60NB10 was able to create the ISO. It took FOREVER to create it though. Normally a DVD is around 40 minutes max, and this is well over an hour per DVD ...

MakeMKV Error Message
I keep getting this error:
Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:COPY PROTECTION KEY EXCHANGE FAILURE - KEY NOT PRESENT' occurred while issuing SCSI command A40..01BAA0..00CC4 to device 'SPTI:\Device\CdRom0'
Does this mean my ISO backup did not work? I do NOT get this error with my Libre drives, but ...

Re: ASUS BW-12B1ST a
Yeah, RIP ASUS drive. It's very slow compared to the newer drives. Guess I'll have to trash it and get a new LG drive before they stop making them if they haven't already. They are going out of stock everywhere it seems. Thanks for the advice. I didn't realize how old the drive was.
i would ...

I was cleaning out a closet and found a brand new retail boxed bluray burner. I installed it today to test it with MakeMKV, and it says this:
Drive Information
OS device name: H:
Current profile: BD-ROM
Manufacturer: ASUS
Product: BW-12B1ST a
Revision: 1.00
