What version of Ubuntu? 32-bit or 64-bit? Hardware?
I installed makemkv several times now, on Ubuntu 12.04, Linux Mint 13 (Cinnamon) and Linux Mint 13 (Xfce). All 64-bit, g++ version 4.6.3.
Everytime without any problems.

MakeMKV does a great job
Several weeks ago I finally switched from Windows to Linux.
MakeMKV for Linux offers the same usability as under Windows.
It is easy to use and the generated MKVs work perfectly on both, my Samsung TV (integrated MediaPlayer) and on my Mede8er Media Player.
