Ok I saw the sdftool link that seems to point back at makemkvcon of the same directory, So in usr/bin (v 1.18.3) sdftool points to makemkvcon in usr/bin. In the makemkv 1.17.7/bin it points to the makemkvcon in that 1.17.7 install directory.

I gave up and tried installing makemkv 1.17.7 to another directory and running that. It seems to have the same issue. Unclear on what I'm supposed to symlink to?

I got it to work

For anyone who might need the full instructions this is what I did

extracted OSS archive

cd makemkv-oss-1.17.7
sudo mkdir -p /opt/makemkv-1.17.7
./configure --prefix=/opt/makemkv-1.17.7
make
sudo make install


extracted BIN archive

cd ../makemkv-bin-1.17.7
make ...

I tried downloading makemkv files

and they gave me the wrong shasum.

But when I ran them through virus total I think it reported the correct one. However CRDF reported the files ...
