I'm in the states. I bought the 43888 on Amazon back in February. Apparently they are unobtainium here now. At least not for what I paid back then.

I am taking a gamble and purchased a $60 pioneer BDR-UD03 on eBay from china. I took apart the verbatim and took out the BU40N and will slap the pioneer inside and see what happens. If it works it’ll be a nice pioneer drive with usb c connectivity. Will report back on how it goes.

Looking at other recent posts, these drives seem to be failing pretty often. I've had mine since February, it is the LG BU40N variant. Building a media library, probably 300-400 each DVD and BD with maybe 20 UHD. Just today it started clicking and giving "no disk" in MakeMKV.
