Re: BU40N + Silverstone TS14B enclosure, drive eject button won’t work but works with different enclosure
Sounds like not enough power from your macbook? Can you confirm that with your BU40N in the TS14B, you can rip discs OK? I ripped multiple discs and they seem to play without issues. One exception though was disc 1 of "The Craft" 4k uhd where I got the error "Backup done but 1 files ...

Using 100gb M-discs to archive critical data long term, is LGBU40N in Silverstone TS14B sufficient?
Having recently purchased an LGBU40N for ripping 4K UHD blurays, I'm now considering whether to use 100gb m-discs as a long term archival format of critical data. I've heard some drives can be susceptible to scratching though so I'm wondering, is the LGBU40N sufficient for archiving critical, irrepl...

BU40N + Silverstone TS14B enclosure, drive eject button won’t work but works with different enclosure
I used to the included USB cable, plugged each USB-a connector into my macbook but it won't eject using the eject button on the BU40N. If I use a 3.5" external hdd usb2.0 enclosure the eject button works fine but the reason I wanted the TS14B so it's a neat enclosure to protect the drive inside...

Does unchecking "decrypt video" check box when making backup of 4k UHD disc lose you anything?
When making a backup of a disc a check box appears -- "decrypt video" "MakeMKV can back up your disc to a directory on a hard drive. You may choose to save all data from disc as is, without decrypting or changing any files; or decrypt AV files and change related metadata. In all cases...

Re: LG BU40N SDFtool Flasher v1.3.6. "Command produced error code 0xff056103"
Take the disc out of the drive. I also recommend flashing directly to DE_LG_BU40N_1.00 for your drive as your firmware is not encrypted. Oh $h!t, thank you! I flashed it to HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.03-NM00000-211810241934.bin, if I want to flash to DE_LG_BU40N_1.00 can I do that without going back to...

Is the "Silverstone TS14 slimsata 9.5mm to USB-Marty" the same as this? Says SST-TS14, then in the product photos it says "TS14B":

I understand there are specific sata commands that won't work for flashing using many external hard drive enclosures out there but what about after flashing just for ripping? A friend of mine has this which I could borrow just for flashing: https://www.amazon.com/Benfei-Adapter-Compatible-Optical-Su...

Re: WANTED: LG BU40N External USB C 3.0 Enclosure
I live in the USA and I need an external USB C 3.0 enclosure for my LG BU40N drive. This is a slimline notebook drive and will not fit a 5 1/4 case. I bought a new computer and need to remove the drive before I sell it. If anyone has one of these for sale or can direct me to where I can get one in ...

LG-BU40N enclosures that exist in 2026 and work?
Does anyone know of any enclosures on the market still these days and confirmed to work without issue? I've searched and found some posts on this but all the enclosures people talked about are discontinued. I'm currently using an old esata hard drive enclosure with an e-sata to USB 3 adapter and a s...
