Re: Using 100gb M-discs to archive critical data long term, is LGBU40N in Silverstone TS14B sufficient?
@dcoke22 I too have not burned much in the last 10 years or so. I only recently burned probably 10 discs to test the Pioneer BluRay units I manage to buy from sellers on Ebay. There is a high possibility that burnable discs (DVD-R, BD-R etc) eventually go away. If enough people keep buy optical disc...

Nice to see a decent price on these units.
I might be interested but not right now, too much stuff to do. I will post here later if I am interested. I already have three BDR-XD08UMB-S units so no issue if you are sold out.

I will add some information. 1. Don't use large discs for critical data, stick to 25Gb BD-R M-discs. You can run into issued with the layer change and some drives might have a hard time reading multiple layers. This is sometimes an issue with regular BluRay player for home cinema where the layer cha...

Re: Super slooooooooooowwwww site
@AstralWanderer yes, shared hardware etc.
Hmm, it seems that something happened, the last 5-10 days I have not noticed any problems other than what is normal. A bit slow sometimes but nothing out of the ordinary.
Don't know if anyone has done something but the site seems fine now.

Re: Super slooooooooooowwwww site
@Billycar11 yes there is something going on. Sure, forums could be slow from time to time, hardware issues etc but this forum is beyond that. Someone need to look into this, or get help from someone who can investigate this. When the forum is normal it is fine but this dead crawl and timeout is craz...

Re: Super slooooooooooowwwww site
What it going on. I use a lot of different sites and forums but I have never experienced a forum that is this slow or have so much problems. I am starting to think there is something that is sucking resources etc. Is anyone investigating this, I think something needs to be done to get this forum wor...

Re: Looking for Pioneer BDR-S13U-X
Someone on Ebay has it posted. I think it was new, unopened box. He is located in Taiwan and operating as a business, he does whip to Europe. I order a XD-08 drive a while back from Japan, the only issue was paying the tax etc. That was not fun, not the tax is self but it was problematic because of ...

Re: Looking for Pioneer BDR-S13U-X
There is one BDR-S13U-X for sale, asking price is about 670 gbp, shipping is 25 gbp, USPS First Class Package. It is not possible to buy any Pioneer drives new from retail shops, computer shops etc. There is no inventory left and it was probably replaced by Asus external USB3 drive, Verbatim slim-dr...

Re: (Asmcom:) Pioneer UHD 4K Drives, MakeMKV Discounted Software £39.99, Worldwide Service, Excellent Service!!!
Asmcom, thanks for you PM about a XD08 drive. I did buy one from Japan, set me back 430 euros or somewhere in that region. I have no grabbed another XD08 drive from U.K. and this time it was only about 200 euros in total. I grabbed one, but there are two Pioneer External Blu-Ray Drive BDR-XD08TB Sun...

Re: Looking for Pioneer BDR-S13U-X
You can buy the Pioneer BDR-S13J-X and install that into a external 5.25 case with USB3 connection. But that drive will cost you a lot of money, at this moment (2026-02-24) there are seven units for sale, starting at 1200 GBP and then you have to add shipping. I wonder if any of these units will sel...

Re: Advice on new Pioneer optical drive purchase
Ha, I will reply to my own thread. Forgot about this but yeah I manage to get my hands on a Pioneer BDR-XD08MB-S drive, it can not rip UHD discs but that is not a problem. Anyway it was not kind to my bank account. When all was said and done the total cost was about 450 euros. The device was genuine...

Re: Verbatim 43888 and 43889
@boguslecina does it have that late production date 2024, sounds fishy to me. The units I have seen are 2015-2020 of both UD03 and UD04. My XD08 is from July 2023 Or did they do a specific production run for the Verbatim units only, perhaps that is why the date is later. Is there a FW version on the...

Re: (Asmcom:) Pioneer UHD 4K Drives, MakeMKV Discounted Software £39.99, Worldwide Service, Excellent Service!!!
@asmcom thanks, but I don't think I will be getting another XD08 anytime soon. For now I am happy that I got hold of a genuine drive even though it set me back a lot of money, my main worry was the big problems with fake drives. Who knows the LG drives might become better over time, who knows. But t...

Re: Verbatim 43888 and 43889
Yes, that could be the case that the BP55EB40 is older. I know the place that has them in stock is not a computer place, they sell a lot of other things so the small amount of electronics they have they keep for a long time. If it only has that older mini USB3 connector I guess the Verbatim is a bet...

I would like to know the size of the barrel plug.
A caliper will be able to measure this, outside and inside.
I do know that it should be 5v and 3amp because that is what the Pioneer manual states.
And that the pin is plus and the outside is minus but this is standard on everything.
