I seem to have fixed the issue by flashing the firmware with the LibreDrive firmware. I got my first 4K movie to rip so I ended up down that rabbit hole and ended up doing the firmware thing. Many thanks for responding. When I run the command "dd if=/dev/sr0 of=/dev/null" with a blu-ray in the drive I get the below output after some period of time...
